Guided by the timeless motto “Not Me But You”, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government College Nohradhar, established in 2025, stands as a beacon of service, compassion, and social transformation. The unit nurtures the spirit of democratic living by inspiring students to rise above individual interests and commit themselves to the collective well-being of society.
Through sustained engagement in community service, the NSS instills in students a deep sense of empathy and social responsibility, encouraging them to observe, understand, and address social realities with sensitivity and purpose. By translating knowledge into meaningful action, the programme cultivates leadership, resilience, teamwork, and a strong sense of national unity and social harmony. In the process, students are prepared not only to confront social challenges but also to respond courageously and effectively during emergencies and natural disasters, emerging as responsible and committed citizens dedicated to nation-building.
Under the guidance of Prof. Diwan Chand, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, Government College Nohradhar, and the able supervision of Prof. Sangeeta Jhagta, Principal, Government College Nohradhar, the NSS Unit actively engages students in a wide range of community-oriented activities, contributing significantly to holistic personality development and the strengthening of societal values.
The primary objective of the NSS Unit is to instill a sense of volunteerism and social commitment among students. The unit strives to engage students in meaningful community service activities for the upliftment of society, especially the underprivileged sections. It also aims to develop leadership qualities, teamwork, social awareness, and national integration among student volunteers.
The NSS Unit functions under the able guidance of Prof. Diwan Chand, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, Government College Nohradhar, and the supervision of Prof. Sangeeta Jhagta, Principal, Government College Nohradhar. Faculty members and invited resource persons actively support the planning and execution of NSS activities.
Guided by the motto “Not Me But You”, the NSS Unit of Government College Nohradhar consistently aligns its activities with the core values of selfless service, democratic participation, and collective responsibility. The unit ensures that every programme and initiative reflects the spirit of putting community welfare above individual interest, thereby translating the motto into meaningful action.
The philosophy represented by the NSS symbol—continuity with change—is reflected in the sustained and evolving nature of activities undertaken by the NSS Unit of Government College Nohradhar. Through continuous engagement in social outreach, awareness programmes, and community development initiatives, the unit contributes to social upliftment and national integration in a practical and impactful manner.
In alignment with national observance on 24th September, the NSS Unit of Government College Nohradhar marks NSS Day through purposeful activities rather than ceremonial observance. The day is utilized to strengthen student participation in community service, reinforce social responsibility, and reaffirm the unit’s commitment to the ideals of national service.
The NSS Unit of Government College Nohradhar actively participates in a wide range of social and community- oriented activities throughout the academic year. The unit regularly organizes and conducts cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, and community service initiatives within the college campus and surrounding areas. In addition to long-term activities, the NSS Unit also plans and implements one-day and half-day programmes focusing on sanitation, environmental cleanliness, public awareness, and civic responsibility. Through consistent participation in such activities, the NSS Unit ensures meaningful student involvement in social service and contributes effectively to community development and environmental awareness.
Our Programme Officers are dedicated faculty members who guide volunteers in community service activities. They are responsible for the implementation of NSS programmes in the college.
